The BMI, or Body Mass Index, calculates a number to measures your overall body mass. Seems simple but it doesn’t help much. Obese people can have the same BMI as a large lean body builder. That’s the unreliability with the BMI number. Well, I solved that. I introduce you to The Swoll Index.
It uses the BMI number but then subtracts the body fat from that calculation.
First, to calculate your BMI, all you need is your weight (BW) and height (HE)
(BW/(HE×HE)×703 = BMI
Once you get your BMI, you need to take the fat out of it so you can essentially get your LEAN MASS index, or what I like to call it, your SWOLL INDEX.
BMI-(BMI×Body fat in decimal form) = Swoll Index.
This number gives you your overall LEAN MASS. The higher the number for more total lean mass you have. This number distinguishes between the morbid obese and the body builder.
